Primary Education for Grades 1 to 3
Tight-knit communities grow stronger in the primary years
When students enter Grade 1 they will be able to confidently read, write and speak French, and will continue to refine and further their knowledge and grasp of the language.
In Grades 2 and 3, children receive 45 minutes of English instruction every day. Art, music and physical education may be taught in English while core subjects proceed to be taught in French.
Once children have enough proficiency in French, they are introduced to Mandarin as a third language. They develop oral, reading and writing skills through storytelling, songs, poetry and drama with an aim to expand their abstract critical thinking capacities.
Field trips include museums, gallery, sporting events, community theatre and cultural events to complement and intensify curriculum content and connections.
