Junior Education for Grades 4 to 8
Pushing their limits and gaining more confidence
By the end of Grade 4, English and French proficiencies are both spoken, written and read with comfort and ease. As students continue into their junior years, French and English instruction share equal importance.
Math and Science are taught by a team comprising both of the homeroom teacher and specialist to prepare students for secondary school and international exams.
In Grades 4 to 8, iPads are a part of daily school life. They’re used inside the classroom and for homework assignments.
Class excursions for our junior students span a larger area to enhance their curricula. We’ve been to Stratford, Ottawa, Boston, Montréal and Québec City for enriching musical and artful programming, and also enjoying camping and skiing trips.
SSAT exam preparation- extended program
The Giles School offers an extended program to our Grade 7 students to prepare them for the SSAT exams. This will enable them to have a chance to access top schools in Canada and the U.S. for Grade 9.
Throughout the sessions, students will be fully prepared to tackle Math, English as well as the interview part of their application process. With brainstorming essays, active reading, mental maps of passages and 400-500 new vocabularies, students will grow the confidence to succeed in their SSAT exams.
Progress reports will be given for each session, so students will know exactly what they need to do to be the best they can be.
Some schools that require SSAT exams for entry are St. Michael’s College, UTS, De La Salle, St. Clements, Havergal, and Branksome Hall.
