A glance into the learning environment

The Giles School is located at 80 Scarsdale Road, a quiet street in the heart of North York, Ont.,  just southeast of York Mills Rd. and Leslie St.

The Giles School building is bright and spacious with a light-filled atrium at the entrance and a front-door buzzer security system that provides a safe environment for all students.

Each room at Giles has an international name or link to the United Nations – with a description in French and English of the space the classroom is aiming to replicate (well almost). These spaces include:

  • Office – Assemblée Générale (School office)
  •  “Le Palais de la Paix” – The Peace Palance, The Hague (VP)
  • Petit Café  (Nursery Wing lunch room)
  • Ingenium – Canadian Museum of Science and Innovation (Science Lab)
  • Center Pompidou (Playroom)
  • Bonjour Books (Second Hand Bookstore) 

2nd Floor

  • Fondation Sciences Mathématiques de Paris (Science and Math Rm)
  • Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie (Simmons Resource/Tech Rm) 
  • The Great Wall of Mandarin (Mandarin classroom)
  • Place de l’Étoile (French classroom)
  • La Tour D’Argent (lunchroom)
  • Taj Mahal (student lounge)
  • La Bibliothèque Giles (new Library) – English and International Rooms
  • English Channel (English classroom)

  • Le Dépôt Scientifique (Science Storage Room)

3rd Floor

  • Palais de la Decouverte (The Giles Museum) 

  • Monet’s Garden (Visual Arts Studio)
  • Salle Pleyal (Music Practice Room)

Basement – Stade de Giles (Indoor PE area and future climbing wall) 

The three-storey building is divided into pre-Kindergarten classrooms on the first, upper years on the second floor and a music studio on the third floor. The school library is located on the second floor. The school’s gymnasium and indoor squash court is located in the basement, and the playground is located outside behind the school.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
