NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH & RECONCILIATION 2025
On September 30, 2025, our entire Giles School community marked the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation. Students and staff wore orange to affirm “Every Child Matters”, and classes engaged in age-appropriate learning about the histories and living cultures of Indigenous peoples in Canada. Activities included bilingual reflections, art pieces, and discussion circles that invited students to listen, ask questions, and consider how we can build a more just future together.
We were honored to welcome Dr. Reiss Kruger for interactive workshops with Grades 1–6. Drawing on his background in education, sociology, and storytelling (Ph.D., York University), Dr. Kruger helped students explore truth, empathy, and reconciliation through dialogue and hands-on learning. He shared cultural artifacts, rhythms, and stories that made complex ideas relatable and memorable for our learners.
