Pre-Kindergarten
All children in PreK are introduced to The Giles School’s immersion learning program early, with French used as the core language from the first day of their enrolment. By using an entirely separate academic curriculum for preschool learners, children develop their French language skills through creative and imaginative play-based activities. These include reading stories, singing, dancing and games. With a focus on interactive and engaging learning, young students have plenty of time to rest, refuel and re-energize at snack, lunch, recess and nap times.
Children are required to enroll full-time in PreK, however if there is availability they can also begin in January. For those that haven’t completed toilet training before starting school, staff can provide extra support to facilitate them at the stage they are at upon joining. It is however the aim for all preschoolers to be toilet trained before beginning with us. Preschool students can easily access bathrooms in their community, and will not have to negotiate stairs or older students. All young children with us are able to thrive in a comfortable, spacious learning area that aids their continued growth.
Junior & Senior Kindergarten
Senior Kindergarten
French immersion learning continues for our JK and SK students. Children at this level are encouraged to grow their imagination and sensitivity through a creative academic curriculum that enables playful interactions, stories, songs, games and musical activities. Foundational mathematical skills of counting and measuring are introduced here, as are written and oral communication techniques.
With a focus on implementing a firm base of learning, children need time to rest at ‘quiet time’ through slower paced activities after lunch time.
JK and SK classes offer security and a nurturing space for young children to further develop within our French immersion program, whilst continuously receiving positive reinforcement for their efforts.
