The Giles School is an independent, non-profit, non-denominational, co-educational French immersion school.

The Giles School (formerly The Markham School for Human Development) was founded in 1989 by Harry Giles, CM, QC a pioneer in bilingual French immersion in Canada and the founder of Toronto French School.

The school began with just a handful of students in an Anglican church at Don Mills and Sheppard. The school moved to another site at Tempo Avenue (McNicoll and Victoria Park) after one year, then to 33 Overland (Lawrence and Don Mills) in 1991. In 1994, with increased enrollment, it opened the second branch at 230 The Donway West to house the older students.

In 2008 The Giles School relocated to its current site at 80 Scarsdale Road (York Mills and Leslie). This location not only provides a single building for all the school's students but also offers plenty of room to expand as enrollment grows.

The school draws its students from Toronto and the surrounding areas of Markham, Richmond Hill, Ajax, and Port Credit. Enrollment for the 2009/2010 academic year is 175 from Pre-K to Grade 8.
