The six pillars of Giles School Education: early academic intervention, bilingualism, third languages, small classes, highest international standards and love.

The Giles School was founded on the concept of early academic intervention within a bilingual setting. Our highly enriched French immersion academic programme, beginning in Pre-K, gives Giles School students an education comparable to the best programmes in the world.

Early Academic Intervention

The period between birth and age 5 is the most critical period in a child's life. The earlier learning begins, the easier it becomes. The Giles School starts children in Pre-K with a comprehensive, multi-sensorial programme focusing on languages, mathematics, art and music.

Bilingualism

Learning French is much easier for children the younger they start. At The Giles School, nearly all subjects are taught in French from Pre-K to Grade 6. Our curriculum follows standards used in France, and is taught by a group of teachers selected from throughout the French-speaking world.

Third Languages

To become a citizen of the world and an active participant in the global economy, one needs to speak many languages. The Giles School provides children with daily instruction in either Mandarin or Japanese beginning in Grade 1, one of the very few schools in Canada to do so.

Highest International Standards

Internationally recognized standards give parents an excellent means for evaluating a school's curriculum. The Giles School is the only school in Canada that offers students the highest standards in both the French and English speaking worlds.

Small Class Sizes

All children are special. Small class sizes ensure that all children get the attention they need. The Giles School accommodates the uniqueness of each child with a policy that caps class sizes at very low levels: Pre-K: 10, JK: 12, SK: 14, Grade 1 and above: 16.

Love

Love is the foundation for all learning. Children should be allowed to make mistakes in an environment of encouragement and constant positive reinforcement. The Giles School follows Adlerian principles that work to develop children's social and emotional muscles, so that they can become self-confident learners for life.

Harry Giles managed to turn one of the most difficult decisions of parenthood into an easy one.
